Why Shared Hosting?

Shared hosting is where the web hosting server is shared by many users.

In other words multiple users share the same server and resources like CPU, RAM, Disk Space (SSD) and bandwidth.

It is the basic hosting services provided by the most hosting services.

Moreover, it is the most budget-friendly hosting services for any beginners.

For any, beginner bloggers or someone who is starting a business or for someone who owns a small business and looking for migration.

Therefore, shared hosting would be a best option for anyone who is starting over.

Basically shared means you will be sharing the resources like the CPU, RAM, Disk Storage (SSD) and other resources with other individuals on the same server.

Unlike the dedicated server, here you will be sharing the resources with other users. At the same time the server maintenance cost and management cost is shared by multiple sites. Hence, lower monthly cost.

Moreover, once your blog or business starts to grow you have a choice to upgrade to further plans like VPS or dedicated hosting.

Takeaway Tip

As I prompted earlier, I only do the explanation and analysis part here.

Moreover, since both the products are equally competitive out there.

Now, it is your decision to make according to your situation and requirements, taking into consideration your budget and purpose of hosting.

However, here is my take,

  • If you are someone who is on a tight budget and just starting over you can opt for GreenGeeks.
  • The price difference ($52.56) might also make a difference for someone hosting not for profit blogs.
  • For few that might only need website presence on the web for promoting (advertising) their products.
  • Since GreenGeeks, prices are less in comparative to the bluehost Shared hosting.
  • Moreover, if you are someone who is considering keeping your budget as low as possible even after one year or two years or 3 years depending on your hosting purpose you can go with the GreenGeeks.
  • Because, the renewal prices for bluehost are much higher in comparison with the GreenGeeks.
  • Moreover, with GreenGeeks you have a monthly option too with no contract, no commitments, cancel anytime and pay monthly.
  • Additionally, going with GreenGeeks, you get the feel good happiness that you are part of GreenGeeks who has adopted to provide Echo-friendly services.
  • At the same time, if you are someone who can afford the current prices and further renewal prices you can opt for bluehost.

Furthermore, DreamHost free domain is valid only for one year and 3 year plans only. And, if you opt for DreamHost Monthly hosting, the domain cost will be $6.99 one time payment.

One more, difference is about Domain Privacy.

bluehost does not provide Domain privacy protection for the basic plan.

DreamHost provides Domain privacy protection for the starter plan.

What is Domain Privacy?

Having a domain privacy protection will hide Domain registrants personal information (like name, Address) from the public view and keeps the information private.

Next, let us see the takeaway tip on the bluehost Vs. DreamHost Shared comparison analysis.

Takeaway Tip

Above, we have seen the bluehost Vs DreamHost Shared Hosting Comparison Analysis.

As I prompted earlier, I only do the explanation and analysis part here.

Moreover, since both the products are equally competitive out there.

Now, it is your decision to make according to your situation and requirements, taking into consideration your budget and purpose of hosting.

However, here is my take, if you are someone who is on a tight budget and just starting over you can opt for DreamHost.

Since, price is less in comparative to the bluehost Shared hosting.

Moreover, if you are someone who is considering keeping your budget as low as possible even after one year or 3 years depending on your hosting purpose you can go with the DreamHost.

Because, the renewal prices for bluehost are much higher in comparison with the DreamHost.

Moreover, with DreamHost you have a monthly option too with no contract, no commitments, cancel anytime and pay monthly.

You can head over here if you want to read the analysis on DreamHost’s two monthly packages Shared starter and Shared unlimited.

At the same time, if you are someone who can afford the current prices and further renewal prices you can opt for bluehost.

However, I was not earning any money from that blog.

That was the mistake I’ve done earlier. I never thought of monetizing my blog. First of all I did not know that we can monetize, when I started my first blog (October 2014).

Moreover, later though I’ve realized that I can make money from the blogs it was totally against my norms.  I thought blog is something to learn and catch up with communities.

The 6 Easy Steps in Starting A blog in 2021:

Follow these The 6 easy steps in starting your own blog and within no time you have a blog in few minutes with your name in it. As you start blogging you can help others further in with the topics you like to blog.

Blog-Building-6-Easy-Steps-Starting-blog

Alright, so the first step in starting a blog is, you need to decide on what topic you want to write and start a blog on.

1. Start brainstorming on a Topic

This topic can be anything you are comfortable with to write about or any hobby you want to share with the audience or any niche subject you are proficient with.

Here are a few examples I can mention for you. These can be from psychology to photography to cooking to games to management to any professional services.

If you are interested in pets or music or outdoor activities like hiking, travelling, kayaking anything that you think you can write about or show about.

Also, fashion, clothes, accessories, jewelry, art pieces, paintings, crafts anything that amazes you and that might amuse the audience.

Above, mentioned examples are just brainstormed by me. You can think on wild array of things. Be aware that no one can stop us here….so go along with your wild imagination.    🙂

Blog-Building-6-Easy-Steps-Starting-blog

For now the topic you have chosen might be a vague subject. That is ok.

I’ve chosen to blog on books. However, later I thought let me write on the 6 easy steps in starting a blog. So that it could benefit someone who wants to start a blog like me.

There is short video on writing tips for beginner bloggers and writers. These 5 tips are to inspire beginners to start writing without too much self-validating.

So now since, we’ve decided on the topic you want to blog, we shall move to the next step.

The second step is searching for a web hosting company that sets best as per your requirements.

2. Select a Web Hosting company

What is hosting company?

Hosting is one who houses your blog or website. Just like a host hosts guests at their house for a certain period. A hosting company hosts your blog on their servers for certain period on a contract. Hosting companies are responsible for the maintenance and management of your blog or website.

Blog-Building-6-Easy-Steps-Starting-blog

Therefore, here for a hosting company you pay a certain amount according to the time period.

Most hosting companies offer

  • Yearly (12 months) or
  • More than a year (24 Months or 36 Months) or some on
  • Monthly basis

There would be different packages to choose from according to your plan, your requirements and your affording capacity.

However, I’ve already done my research on this and also almost most of the other bloggers out there too have recommended highly on bluehost for beginners like you and me.

If you want to sign up now for bluehost services, below is the step by step process to sign up for the bluehost.

Follow those steps and you can sign up for the bluehost just like any other services.

Why bluehost for hosting?

Customer Array:Powering over 2 million websites worldwide
Domain:Free Domain for the first year
Security:Free SSL certificate included
Installation:1-click WordPress install (Free)
Support:24/7 support with a help center that provides guides, videos tutorials and more
Price:Starting at $3.95/month
Agreement:30 day Money-back guarantee (If you cancel the hosting service for any reason within the 30 days limit, full amount is refunded, excluding one year domain cost $12 )
Uptime:99.98%

In conclusion, I’ve also chosen bluehost to host my blog. Because, bluehost comes with a combination of hosting and Content Management System that is WordPress. In other words WordPress (free) is included in bluehost priced packages.

Furthermore, it comes with a one year domain name free for the first year and a 30 day Money-back guarantee.

Bluehost Pricing Plans for Web Hosting:

Bluehost offers four plans for hosting:

  • Basic Plan,
  • Plus Plan,
  • Choice Plus Plan
  • Pro Plan

Therefore, I’ve chosen a plan from bluehost for a choice plus plan for 3 years.  Why? Because, in my opinion one year plan commitment is too short for a blog to grow further for a beginner.

Moreover, the longer the time period the more will be the commitment towards your blog building. Besides, the choice plus plan comes with a Domain privacy feature that protects your online personal information like your name, Phone number and address.

Let’s compare the different plans bluehost is offering:

The below prices displayed are for 36 months by bluehost. Starting from $2.95/mo.

Carefully check the differences from the each price package.

Basic plan provides one website to host and 50 GB SSD storage capacity.

Rest all the price plans has unlimited website hosting options and unlimited storage capacity.

Further, the Choice Plus and the Pro plans comes with domain privacy and free Automated Back up.

Moreover, Pro plan provides Free Dedicated IP address.

Bluehost_Plan_Prices
Blog-Building-6-Easy-Steps-Starting-blog

My recommendation if you are serious and you want to commit for blogging go for the recommended option for 36 months Choice Plus Plan.

If you want to test the water and see how blogging goes for you take up the basic plan.

Because, you can upgrade to your choice of plan later when your blogging is going good or you think you need an upgrade further in your blogging journey.

Futhermore, if you are looking for further web hosting plans (for beginners, bloggers, small to medium to large businesses) provided by bluehost you can check my guide on the 3 best web hosting plans provided by bluehost in 2020.

Can I have a monthly billing plan with bluehost?

No, bluehost does not provide monthly billing price plans.

If you are looking for month-to-month hosting services, you can head over here.  I’ve a provided a clear overview of why month-to-month hosting might be a best option for some who are looking for a no string attached monthly payment option.

For beginners, is there any Plan and price Comparison Analysis between bluehost and DreamHost?

Yes, you can head over here for a complete bluehost Vs. DreamHost shared hosting ultimate comparison analysis on plan and price for beginners.

Can I have a blog without a web hosting company?

Here, probably, one question might be lingering in your mind that, can I have a blog without a hosting company? Yes, you can have.

However, comes with lot of limitations capped with where you have less features and freedom to blog. I’ve done this with my previous blog and I do not advice to anyone going without a hosting plan.

Below is the step by step process to sign up for the bluehost services. Follow these steps and you can sign up for the bluehost just like any other services.

Now, that we’ve chosen the hosting company, let us move to the next step. That is deciding a domain name or address for your blog.

3. Domain address for your blog

What is domain address?

Domain name is your address for your blog or business. Example, www.mybookrave.com is the address for the online store amazon. We type this domain address in browser address bar to reach the online Amazon store for shopping.

Blog-Building-6-Easy-Steps-Starting-blog

Now, select a domain name according to what you want to blog on. If you want to blog on books, select a name that garbs that topic.

Many bloggers go with their personal names or some may start with their nick names or some may chose some catchy name to go with the domain name.

However, there aren’t any rules defined here. You can select some fun, funky and wacky name too. Something that is creative and memorable in the minds of the audience.

The domain name provided by bluehost is free in their priced packages for 12 months. You can also buy domain or register a domain from other sources too. Example, GoDaddy services.

At this stage let us check what we have with us to blog on:

  • A Topic to Blog
  • A  Purchased Web Hosting with bluehost (If you haven’t yet, here is the step by step process to sign up).
  • A domain Name or Address for your blog

Now, that we have all the three above steps completed and they are with us, let us move to the next step. That is deciding on Design layout and theme with WordPress.

Now, If you want to just skip the below step by step process to bluehost sign up services, you can directly jump to the Design theme of the section of the blog.

And, If you haven’t signed up for the web hosting yet, below is the step by step process to sign up for the bluehost services.

4. Design (theme) in WordPress (CMS)

What is design lay out theme in WordPress?

WordPress is your blogging platform called Content Management System (CMS). Where you design, write and publish your blog posts for the audience to read it.

So, WordPress comes with some predefined designed themes. Like a readymade design theme that can be used for blogging.

WordPress themes are two types.

  • Free themes
