Firstly, when I started my blog I’ve done some research which I want to share with you here. I’ll state those 6 easy steps here and you can start your blog with a snap of your finger, now.

Secondly, don’t worry it is not that difficult to start a blog. Mind you, I was as apprehensive as you are to start one. Though I have a blog from 2014 Empower Now, which I started to just write or rant on things that I was interested in.

That was the mistake I’ve done earlier. I never thought of monetizing my blog. First of all I did not know that we can monetize, when I started my first blog (October 2014).

Moreover, later though I’ve realized that I can make money from the blogs it was totally against my norms.  I thought blog is something to learn and catch up with communities.

However, I’ve realized late, almost after 6 years of starting my first blog that you can make money. At the same time I can learn and catch up with others.

Because of this, I do not want you the readers to repeat it. Many are making money with their hobbies and helping people out there who really are in need either through their blogs or blogging.

Furthermore, I’ll be sharing some of the blogging books that might help you in further building your own blog. These books are available on the Kindle and Audible too.

Follow these The 6 easy steps in starting your own blog and within no time you have a blog in few minutes with your name in it. As you start blogging you can help others further in with the topics you like to blog.

Alright, so the first step in starting a blog is, you need to decide on what topic you want to write and start a blog on.

1. Start brainstorming on a Topic

This topic can be anything you are comfortable with to write about or any hobby you want to share with the audience or any niche subject you are proficient with.

Here are a few examples I can mention for you. These can be from psychology to photography to cooking to games to management to any professional services.

If you are interested in pets or music or outdoor activities like hiking, travelling, kayaking anything that you think you can write about or show about.

Also, fashion, clothes, accessories, jewelry, art pieces, paintings, crafts anything that amazes you and that might amuse the audience.

Above, mentioned examples are just brainstormed by me. You can think on wild array of things. Be aware that no one can stop us here….so go along with your wild imagination.    🙂 

For now the topic you have chosen might be a vague subject. That is ok.

I’ve chosen to blog on books. However, later I thought let me write on the 6 easy steps in starting a blog. So that it could benefit someone who wants to start a blog like me.

Here, probably, one question might be lingering in your mind that, can I have a blog without a hosting company? Yes, you can have.

However, comes with lot of limitations capped with where you have less features and freedom to blog. I’ve done this with my previous blog and I do not advice to anyone going without a hosting plan.

Now, that we’ve chosen the hosting company, let us move to the next step. That is deciding a domain name or address for your blog.

3. Domain address for your blog 

What is domain address?

Domain name is your address for your blog or business. Example, www.mybookrave.com is the address for the online store amazon. We type this domain address in browser address bar to reach the online Amazon store for shopping. 

Now, select a domain name according to what you want to blog on. If you want to blog on books, select a name that garbs that topic.

Many bloggers go with their personal names or some may start with their nick names or some may chose some catchy name to go with the domain name.

However, there aren’t any rules defined here. You can select some fun, funky and wacky name too. Something that is creative and memorable in the minds of the audience.  

The domain name provided by bluehost is free in their priced packages for 12 months. You can also buy domain or register a domain from other sources too. Example, GoDaddy services.

At this stage let us check what we have with us to blog on:

• A Topic to Blog
• A  Purchased Web Hosting with bluehost (If you haven’t yet, here is the step by step process to sign up).
• A domain Name or Address for your blog

Now, that we have all the three above steps completed and they are with us, let us move to the next step. That is deciding on Design layout and theme with WordPress.

WordPress themes are two types.

Now, coming to WordPress paid themes, there are some advanced themes that anyone can be purchased for a fixed one time amount. The price of the design is displayed on the theme.

For my blog I’ve selected Oceanly WordPress free theme. So far I like the theme and the support provided by the theme builder.

So, after you select free or paid WordPress theme you can start writing and publish your first post

 Alright, after that the next step is publishing your blog

5. Publish your blog on WordPress

Now, go to the WordPress panel and write your blog and press publish button.

Here are the steps to write and publish your blog.

1. Log in to the WordPress.

2. On the left side of the Panel select Posts >> Add New

3. Write your Post in WordPress Editor

Write the post in the WordPress editor and press preview button to preview your post.

4. Press Publish

After you finish writing, If you find everything fine press publish. Else, again edit, preview and press publish.

Now, your blog is online, for the audience to read.

Yay, we’ve done it. 🙂

Alright, now the last step is promoting the blog.

6. Promote on social media

Now, start promoting your blog in various social media accounts that are out there. Each social media has its own advantage and comes with a particular niche attached to it. 

For example, LinkedIn is for business and technology professionals and similarly Facebook is for sharing information with friends and family and more.

In addition, do your own research on social media groups and post your blogs that might be relevant to your blog niche.

Above all, according to your blog niche start promoting it on all the available social media accounts that works for you best according to your niche topic.
